The Dog Days Aren't Over

Yo dog, I haven't done one of these in awhile. I used to crank these puppies out like it was nothing. Like it was my job. In fact, it WAS my job. Well here is a brand new pet portrait. This one is a bit different as it was done in oils. I used to do the other ones in watercolor. The reason being I actually made one in watercolor and it just didn't come out that well. And I owed to it to myself and the client to deliver nothing less than an incredible portrait. I knew with oils I could accomplish that. I'm not sure if the client ended up liking this version, but I sure do. And that's what counts.

Ok, so this post isnt the most serious of all posts, but figured I would share since it's super cute. My momz and stepfather just celebrated their respective birthdays with me and my sister, and we made them this cake. Now, I know that people make insane cakes with fondant that look like pretty much anything. COOL good for them. I'm not trying to be the cake boss. They win. I was just trying to give the cake a little character, so i drew a quick lil cat face with the frosting. They loved it. And so will you OR HELP ME GOD.

The dude who wrote/directed Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Tobe Hooper, recently wrote a book about a movie he wrote but never actually directed. They needed a Grindhouse style movie poster for the viral campaign and I was lucky enough to get the gig. The coolest thing about this all is seeing this online as the official poster.

Watercolor Sketchbook

So I bought a small watercolor sketchbook so I can do quick little studies of things. This is the first one. It's a tomato. Not a peach. The paints I ended up using werent the highest of quality, but I think it's ok for what I want to get out of these. I got my mom one of the books too and we both painted this tomato. She thinks mine was better, but hers was pretty good too.

By creating a purrfectly pawesome save the date for my great friends Dan and Heather. It was requirement that their cats were on it. Therefore, their cats are on it. Valentine's Day

I believe I have crafted the perfect Valentine's Day gift. I was sitting on my couch watching romantic comedy after romantic comedy trying to conjure up the perfect idea. My first thoughts of chocolates, a teddy bear, and balloons was highly original but I was afraid that the recipient(s) wouldn't 'get it'. The idea was just too arbitraty. It needed the pitch, the anchor, the solid component that would tie it all together. And then it hit me. Every woman, in this world, wants...The Biebs. Ladies and gents, I am so pleased to announce that I have finally completed a new painting. It has been roughly 2 and half years. It was partially me being burnt out from mass producing paintings of boobs, and taking a job for the white man, leaving me with little to no time to do anything. Well, let's say I finally started to miss painting, and forced myself to do one. Here is a portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe. I ended up doing this and giving it to my uncle as a thanks to a recent visit to the Brooklyn Museum, where her work left us both inspired.

Theyreeeeee baaack. Don't let a couple of roads fool you, I still like to paint women!! Yeah, I know what the large percentage of my fanbase is thinking... 'No biuoobs??' (thats how my fans pronounce boobs, in my head). Well no, sorry but its not always about boobs. Ok? Grow up guys. There are other... things. Than boobs. Sheesh. Anyway, this time around I was commissioned by a buddy of mine from high school. An old art class chum. He asked me to do a painting for his gfs bday since they were both fans of my style. I guess so! Here's what happened, when they were hanging the original pieces, they temporarily placed one directly across from their glass door. Then left for whatever reason and when returning they could see the painting from all the way down the hall (the door was glass, remember?) and they were like 'wow, those colors really draw you in!' (or something like that I'm assuming). So then after the pieces were hung in the correct places they decided 'Man it's too bad we don't have a piece to go across from our door'. Then I like to imagine that they looked at each other in slow motion to really capture the changing of facial expressions as they become overwhelmed in excitement as they realize they will infact order one from me for that spot. They decided they wanted something simple, the focus more on color, just to lead the eyes to their office. Here what I came up with

Well it seems like this ol' 'road' has come to an end. Here is part 4 of the 4 part series for HighRoad Capital Partners. All 4 are hanging in their offices and getting compliments on a daily basis( I assume, but haven't heard of any yet). I plan on getting some pics of them in location and when I do I will BLOG IT! I guess so! I was commissioned to do 4 paintings in the offices of High Road Capital Partners. This is the first one, and its going in the reception room. They provided me with 4 photos of roads and I am basically painting artsy versions of them.

Yeah, pretty crazy. This is definitely among the highest honors I believe I could ever achieve as an artist.. to have something you did permanently engraved on your body. It started off as an illustration for an advertisement I did for Pollen Records... and it became a symbol for alot of things to my buddy Josh. I was really flattered when he told me he was getting tattooed and it looks awesome in person. This is a first but hopefully not a last. Anyone else want an ecol tat??? Hit me up and maybe I can make something for you!

Sooo I know what you're wondering.. WHAT THE HELL IS ECOL DOING?? Well I'm working on a few things. I've been busy with life but I'm trying to get some new stuff done. I've started a new painting. A portrait to be exact. Except this time, it's not a writer. That's all I'm going to say for now because it's a gift and I don't want to spoil anything. SOARRY! Also soon I should have some pics of this crazy giant window guard I made out of iron. It's a 7' by 7' square that has a giant stylized tree in it. Came out really cool. So check back soon and I'll get pics as soon as I can. :)

Crestfallen King PAINTING

So I did this painting as a submission to a gallery show with the theme 'King and Queen'. Pretty much the only reason why I chose that subject matter. Although oddly enough it seems to fit right in with my style. Maybe in a former life I was a portrait artist for the royal family.. or even better maybe I was a KING! Man, why can't I be a king NOW. Anyway, this is the first painting I did since september so I'm glad the gallery had an open call and I was able to break the break and get some new shit done. Hope you like it!
